Path to Mesagoza

Map showing the path to Mesagoza and surrounding area

Your next destination is Mesagoza to the north. It’s a pretty straightforward path there, as you can just follow the road, or you can just ignore the road and head directly north to reach the gates to Mesagoza.

There are a few more Pokémon and a lot more items around the northern part of South Province (Area One), so feel free to do some exploring, but your destination should be the Pokémon Center near the bridge leading to Mesagoza.

Nemona Wants to Battle

As you approach the gate to Mesagoza, hopefully after healing up your Pokémon at the nearby Pokémon Center, you’ll be approached by Nemona, who wants to battle you to check your progress.

She uses two Pokémon now: her starter Pokémon, which is at level 8, and a Pawmi. She shouldn’t be too tough, don’t worry. Your starter should have no trouble against hers, but you can give any of your other Pokémon a chance to fight it, too. Her other Pokémon, Pawmi, is a level 9 Electric-type Pokémon.

A Pawmi Terastallized with an Electric Tera Type

However, she has a trick up her sleeve for the Pawmi: she’ll Terastallize it. By Terastallizing her Pokémon, it changes its type to the Tera Type of the Pokémon, which also powers up the Pokémon’s moves of that same type. Since her Pawmi has an Electric Tera Type, it keeps its same type, but its Electric-type moves will do a lot more damage—2× of their base damage instead of the usual 1.5× due to the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB). It only knows the move Thunder Shock, so if you have a Paldean Wooper, it is an easy win; otherwise, Grass-type Pokémon are good against it.

You aren’t able to Terastallize just yet, but you’ll be able to soon, don’t worry!

Take her down and then continue into Mesagoza.
