The first set in the Pokémon Sword & Shield series of the Pokémon TCG is set to be released on February 7, 2020, and Prerelease tournaments are going on from January 25, 2020 through February 3, 2020, so there’s still a chance to get some of the new cards early if you go to one of the Prerelease events.
Pokémon was kind enough to send over the three Theme Decks from the Sword & Shield expansion — Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon — which contain a preconstructed deck that is ready to go and play against your friends with. These are great for beginner players and also offer quite a few helpful Trainer cards for advanced players. In addition to the unboxing video above, I’ll list the deck contents for each deck below, along with my thoughts on it.
The final set in the Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon series, Sun & Moon—Cosmic Eclipse, has been released today. This gargantuan set contains over 236 cards, including 9 more TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX, 7 more Pokémon-GX, and more than 20 Trainer cards, some of which are special Trainer TAG TEAM cards.
You can see some of the new cards down below, including the secret rares, which contain prominent human characters from the Pokémon series on the artwork of the card.
The 2019 Pokémon World Championships take place this weekend, from Friday, August 16 through Sunday, August 18, over in Washington, D.C. The top Pokémon competitors across the Pokémon Video Game, Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokkén Tournament, and even Pokémon GO will duke it out to determine this year’s Pokémon World Champions.
The next expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game has been announced and it is known as Hidden Fates. It is a smaller expansion, consisting of 68 cards in the main set, and will be released in booster packs contained in various Hidden Fates product sets starting on August 23, 2019.
Hidden Fates is the first TCG set to introduce a powerful TAG TEAM trio: Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX, shown below. It also includes various Shiny versions of certain cards, such as Mewtwo-GX and Charizard-GX.
