To the north of Viridian City is Route 2. Route 2 is broken up into two parts, with Viridian Forest nestled in the middle of the route.
Make your way to the north, ignoring the item on the other side of the bushes — that part of the route isn’t accessible right now, but you’ll be able to get there later on in the game, don’t worry.
There aren’t really that many interesting new Pokémon in the patch of grass, so don’t worry too much about scouting for Pokémon there.
Head on to the north to arrive in Viridian Forest, the first “dungeon” of this RPG.
