The canopied Viridian Forest has a nice selection of new Pokémon for you to run into here, as well as plenty of Trainers to fight. There are also a few optional paths you can take throughout the forest, so keep in mind that this walkthrough will try to show all of the items and things to do rather than take the quickest route possible.
From the start of the forest, the western path has Lass Joana and then 5 Poké Balls in the patch of grass to the west of her. Go to the north of that path to find Bug Catcher Brian. Further north and then a bit to the west is a Tiny Mushroom, an item that has no purpose other than to sell for 250.
Head back towards the east until you find a sign with some Trainer Tips on it next to an Antidote. You can then go south to return to the entrance.
Now, head over to the east, fighting against Bug Catcher Rick and continuing east into the patch of grass that has 3 Razz Berries in it. Pick those up and then travel north until you see the path fork — the western side has a lot of tall grass while the eastern side has a fight against Lass Brittany.
Further north is another branching path, although both directions will take you to the same location. The one to the north has a very sneaky Potion hiding behind a tree, though it isn’t actually a “hidden” item despite being quite well-hidden. Other than that, it’s an empty, uneventful path. The other “exciting” path has you fight against Bug Catcher Doug and also takes you through a bit more tall grass.
Continue along the path to the south until you find Lass Jocelyn that you’ll have to fight. You’re getting close to the end, don’t worry! Go past her, wrap around the bend and then head south again.
Once you see a signpost, swing to the right to grab a Lure, which is an item that boosts the rate Pokémon spawn in the wild for a little bit, then keep following the path west and then north until you reach the final Trainer of the forest — Bug Catcher Sammy. Take down his Metapod and then head north into the building and proceed back onto Route 2.
