Although the Marriland Team Builder worked just fine for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl even before this update, it would show an “unavailable in Sword/Shield” message next to any Pokémon in BDSP that wasn’t in Sword/Shield. With the update, when in Gen. 8 mode, it will show a ✅ for either BDSP or Sword/Shield if it is available in that game or a ❌ if it is not.
This should hopefully make it easier to see if your desired team is compatible with either game at a glance!
Hopefully there are no problems with this update, but if there are, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter to let me know so I can fix them as soon as possible!
The Marriland Pokédex has been updated to handle Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl as well. For Pokémon that exist in both games, you’ll find a toggle to switch between its learned moves for BDSP or for Sword/Shield; for Pokémon that exist only in one set of games, it will only show moves for those games.
Locations for Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are not yet added to the Pokédex. Apologies for that! They should be in a future update, but having access to the learned moves was something very important to add right away.
There will likely be a few bugs or problems that spring up from this update, so if you spot any, please feel free to reach out to me over on Twitter and I will try to get them fixed!
Walkthrough Coming Next
Now that these very important updates are done, the next step for the Marriland website is to begin work on the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl walkthrough! I hope to have it started within the next day or two and will be sure to update it frequently. Again, thank you for your patience, and I hope that the content for the Marriland website will help you enjoy Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl!
It’s official: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are now released and available worldwide for the Nintendo Switch! These games are remakes of the original Pokémon Diamond & Pearl for the Nintendo DS, except with enhanced graphics, more modern gameplay, and more quality of life improvements.
The Marriland website is in the process of updating the Team Builder and Pokédex to add in support for Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and these updates should be up fairly soon. Additionally, the Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Walkthrough section of the website will begin soon as well to help get you through the game.
Look forward to these upcoming site updates and have fun with Brilliant Diamond and/or Shining Pearl!
A new trailer for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl was released today (along with a separate one for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which will be covered in a separate post), and it shows off several features coming to the remakes, including the Pokétch, HM improvements, Amity Square changes, and making Poffins.
You can watch the trailer above, and keep reading for more information, details, and screenshots regarding this batch of information.
Some of the new features being introduced to the games that weren’t present in the originals include the ability to customize your Trainer with different outfits and choosing skin tone similar to modern games, the ability for Pokémon to follow you outside of battle, special areas in the Grand Underground to catch Pokémon in, and a vastly more interactive Super Contest system in the form of Super Contest Shows. Pokémon HOME connectivity is also confirmed for sometime in 2022.
A special Nintendo Switch Lite Dialga & Palkia Edition will be released on November 5, 2021 and resembles the old Dialga & Palkia Nintendo DS Lite that launched around the time of the original Diamond and Pearl.
Today, the release dates for the upcoming Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch have been revealed—not just Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but also Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are set for a worldwide release on November 19, 2021. You won’t have to wait for long after that, though, for Legends: Arceus; while it was initially slated for an “Early 2022” release, it turns out they meant that quite literally—it will be released worldwide on January 28, 2022.
