A new trailer for Pokémon Sword & Shield was recently revealed, which confirmed that regional variants are returning — in this case, Galarian Forms — as well as several new characters, a new Team, and a few new Pokémon.
Some big news for Pokémon Sword & Shield was revealed today — including Gigantamaxing, a new phenomenon similar to the previously-revealed Dynamaxing, except specific to only certain species and goes so far to change the Pokémon’s appearance. Additionally, new Pokémon were revealed, along with several new characters, including two new Gym Leaders.

Today’s Nintendo Direct during the week of E3 has revealed some new information about Pokémon Sword & Shield. First and foremost, another Gym Leader has been revealed: Nessa, the Water-type Gym Leader.
Additionally, gameplay footage of the Wild Area and Max Raid Battles was shown during the Nintendo Treehouse, which is featured in the video above, and two new Pokémon have been spotted in the playable demos at the E3 venue.
Today’s 15-minute long Pokémon Direct has revealed a lot of new information on the upcoming Pokémon Sword & Shield games, including the new Dynamax feature, seven new Pokémon, a host of characters, and more. You can see the full presentation in the video above.

The eighth generation of Pokémon games were announced in a recent Pokémon Direct, and their names are Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. These games will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in late 2019.
Pokémon Sword & Shield take place in the Galar region, which appears to be heavily inspired by Great Britain. The three starter Pokémon for this region were also unveiled in this Pokémon Direct.
