The eighth generation of Pokémon games were announced in a recent Pokémon Direct, and their names are Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. These games will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in late 2019.
Pokémon Sword & Shield take place in the Galar region, which appears to be heavily inspired by Great Britain. The three starter Pokémon for this region were also unveiled in this Pokémon Direct.
Grookey, the Grass-type Chimp Pokémon 
Scorbunny, the Fire-type Rabbit Pokémon 
Sobble, the Water-type Water Lizard Pokémon
These aren’t the only Pokémon that made an appearance in the reveal video — Pikachu, Minccino, Meowstic, and several other Pokémon were also shown in the trailer. Gyms are also making a return, as shown in the video and in the screenshots below, as well as mentioned in the press release.
