The next special expansion set for the Pokémon TCG, Crown Zenith, has been announced today and products for this finale for the eighth generation of Pokémon cards will roll out beginning in January 20, 2023, with various products being released all the way through May 5, 2023.

Booster pack of Crown Zenith with Zacian and Zamazenta on its front

As this is a special expansion set, similar to Pokémon GO x TCG and Celebrations, there are no booster boxes or loose booster packs—instead, there are a variety of products, such as tins and pin collections, that contain booster packs of the Crown Zenith set.

Within the Crown Zenith set, there is a sub-set—the Galarian Gallery—which contains 70 cards in it that have special illustrations of cards, presumably similar to those found in the ongoing Trainer’s Gallery subsets that have been included in recent sets. Mewtwo VSTAR, Darkrai VSTAR, and Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR can be found within the Galarian Gallery, in addition to other Pokémon V, VMAX, VSTAR, and Supporter cards.

Altogether, according to the press release, the Crown Zenith expansion contains:

  • 17 Pokémon V
  • 5 Pokémon VMAX
  • 8 Pokémon VSTAR, including Zacian VSTAR and Zamazenta VSTAR
  • 3 Radiant Pokémon featuring Shiny Charizard, Shiny Charjabug, and Shiny Eternatus

Crown Zenith Products

As mentioned earlier, Crown Zenith is available only from special products rather than the traditional means, and not all products will be available at once—they’ll be rolled out from January through May.

Below you’ll find all of the products they’ll be releasing along with their release date. Unfortunately, pricing information was not made available as of the time of this post.

Crown Zenith Elite Trainer Box (Jan. 20, 2023)

Elite Trainer Box of Crown Zenith, featuring a Lucario on the front

The Elite Trainer Box, shown above, features Lucario on it and contains 10 Crown Zenith booster packs, a special Lucario VSTAR card, and “various gameplay accessories”—presumably the usual assortment of card sleeves, damage counter dice, and so on.

The press release did not mention a Pokémon Center-exclusive version. Releases on January 20, 2023.

UPDATE (Jan. 20, 2023): There is indeed a Pokémon Center version of the Elite Trainer Box. It contains 12 booster packs, a deckbox that also has room for accessories, a shiny metal Lucario coin, shiny metal Poison and Burn markers, a special Lucario VSTAR full art promo card, and six shiny metal damage-counter dice, in addition to the usual fare of the basic Energy cards, VSTAR marker, code card, and player’s guide.

Crown Zenith Collection—Regieleki V/Regidrago V (Jan. 20, 2023)

The Crown Zenith Collection—Regieleki V or Regidrago V feature one of the two new Regi Pokémon as a promo card, a Pokémon V promo card, and an oversized version of the Pokémon V promo card. These also contain 4 booster packs of Crown Zenith.

Releases on January 20, 2023.

Crown Zenith Mini Tins (Feb. 17, 2023)

These mini tins feature a prominent character from Pokémon Sword & Shield and include 2 booster packs of Crown Zenith as well as a sticker sheet. There are mini tins for Sonia, Marnie, Leon, Hop, and Bede.

Releases on February 17, 2023.

Crown Zenith Special Collection—Pikachu VMAX (Feb. 17, 2023)

Although a product image was not provided, the Crown Zenith Special Collection—Pikachu VMAX is similar to the Regieleki V or Regidrago V Collection shown earlier, except with 5 booster packs of Crown Zenith and, of course, Pikachu. Specifically, it includes a promo version of Pikachu V and Pikachu VMAX, as well as an oversized version of the Pikachu VMAX promo.

Releases on February 17, 2023.

Crown Zenith Tins (Mar. 17, 2023)

Product images were not provided of these tins, but these are presumably full-sized tins, and they feature Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. Each tin contains 5 booster packs of Crown Zenith as well as a full art promo card of the respective Galarian bird.

Releases on March 17, 2023.

Crown Zenith Pin Collection—Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon (Apr. 14, 2023)

These three products are themed around the final evolutionary form of the Galar starter Pokémon—Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon. They each contain a promo card and a pin of the respective Pokémon, and each contain 3 booster packs of Crown Zenith.

Releases on April 14, 2023.

Crown Zenith Premium Playmat Collection—Morpeko V-Union (Apr. 14, 2023)

Morpeko V-UNION cards and an oversized card version of it

The Crown Zenith Premium Playmat Collection—Morpeko V-Union product (phew, that’s a mouthful) contains quite a lot of variety. As you can hopefully see above, it has all four pieces of a promo Morpeko V-UNION—as well as a jumbo oversized combined version of it (though is it really oversized anymore?). 5 booster packs of Crown Zenith as well as a Professor Burnet card are also included.

Lastly, there’s also a playmat, which can also double as a mousepad or deskpad if you’re just a collector.

Releases on April 14, 2023.

Crown Zenith Premium Figure Collection—Shiny Zacian/Shiny Zamazenta (May 5, 2023)

Lastly, releasing on May 5, 2023, are two separate Premium Figure Collections—one for Shiny Zacian and one for Shiny Zamazenta. These will no doubt be quite expensive, but they come with a lot of stuff.

They each feature a promo card—either a Zacian V or Zamazenta V, depending on which collection you get (and the artwork is of their Shiny version, don’t worry!)—as well as a matching figure and pin. They also contain a set of card sleeves and a total of 11 booster packs of Crown Zenith.
