The Pokémon Presents video presentation for Pokémon’s 25th Anniversary revealed the next entries in the Pokémon main series of games: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. These two games are remakes of the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and are set for a worldwide launch in late 2021.
You can read more about them, as well as see artwork and screenshots, down below.
About the Games
The two games are being developed by ILCA, Inc. and directed by Junichi Masuda of GAME FREAK — who was the Director of the original Pokémon Diamond & Pearl games — as well as Yuichi Ueda of ILCA, Inc.
The games are presented as faithful remakes to the original, keeping a lot of the same size scale for the world, characters, and locations. The character models outside of battle have a small, deformed look to them, sticking true to how the sprites looked in the original games. The battles, of course, look more modern and updated, with the Pokémon and Trainers duking it out in 3D.
According to the press release, “These games are updated with the easy-to-understand, player-friendly conveniences introduced in recent Pokémon core series video games, in addition to up-close-and-personal Pokémon battle scenes.”
While no solid release date has been given, its worldwide release has been given a rough estimate — late 2021. This is very typical for most main series games, and it would be reasonable to expect it sometime in October or more likely November.
