The Pokémon TCG: Detective Pikachu Charizard-GX Case File (US$19.99) is one more item in the line of Detective Pikachu Pokémon TCG products and stars one of the most popular Pokémon in the TCG: Charizard!

Outside look at the Charizard-GX Case File
Here’s what the Charizard-GX Case File looks like from the outside. It’s got a fearsome Charizard from the movie peeking out at you!

Like the other Pokémon Detective Pikachu Case Files, this Charizard-GX Case File contains special Detective Pikachu booster packs, which can generally only be obtained through the Case Files and Collector’s Chest, making it a good option if you’re looking to acquire booster packs to complete your collection.

Similar to the Mewtwo-GX Case File (US$19.99) shown earlier, the Charziard-GX Case File contains four Detective Pikachu booster packs as well as two Sun & Moon series booster packs — again, these could be from any Sun & Moon series set, not specifically the base set (the Case File I received had one Sun & Moon—Guardians Rising and one Sun & Moon—Crimson Invasion booster pack).

The inside of the Charizard-GX Case File.
The inside of the Charizard-GX Case File contains the normal-sized version of the promo card as well as a very large Charizard-GX.

This Case File contains two sizes of the SM195 Charizard-GX promo card — one regular size and one JUMBO SIZE. The card itself has some very large numbers on it — a whopping 250 HP, an attack that does 200 damage, and a powerful GX attack that does 250 damage. Wow!

Let’s take a look at these moves a bit more carefully. Raging Destruction costs one Fire Energy and causes you to discard the top 8 cards of your deck and attach any Fire Energy in those cards to Charizard-GX. That’s a substantial portion of your deck and you’re likely to discard some useful cards. Its Steam Artillery is very expensive, costing two Fire Energy and three Colorless Energy, but a solid 200 damage is very strong. Its GX attack, Dreadful Flames GX, costs the same as Steam Artillery but does 250 damage instead and also discards one Energy from each of your opponent’s Pokémon, which can slow down the foe by a bit but it’s really the extreme damage of the move that is its shining point.

You can see more of the Detective Pikachu TCG set cards in this earlier post, and you can see more Detective Pikachu products and information in the site’s Detective Pikachu tag.

Be sure to stick around for one final review of the Detective Pikachu Greninja-GX Case File that will go live on the site and YouTube over the weekend.
