Corviknight is a new Flying/Steel-type Raven Pokémon that was first revealed on June 5, 2019. It’s a strong, large bird that is capable of transporting people around, and this is said to be the primary way that players can travel between towns and cities in the Galar region in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

It has a chance of having its Hidden Ability, Mirror Armor, when encountered in a Max Raid Battle. Mirror Armor is a new ability that reflects back any stat-lowering effects from moves or abilities to the opponent that induced them, such as by the move Growl or the ability Intimidate.

On July 8, 2019, Gigantamax Corviknight was revealed. Corviknight’s Gigantamax form turns it into a gigantic bird with glowing red feathers. Upon going Gigantamax, it releases the armor on its wings into blade birds that can fly around independently of Corviknight, while the armor on its body has been reinforced.

Its Flying-type moves change into G-Max Wind Rage while in Gigantamax form, which removes the effects of moves such as Reflect, Light Screen, Spikes, and Electric Terrain that the enemy has used.

Corviknight’s Evolution Line

Whether Corviknight is part of an evolution line or is a standalone Pokémon incapable of evolution is currently unknown. Its size and typing imply that, if it does evolve, it is likely a fully-evolved Pokémon.

  • Interestingly, Gogoat is another key Pokémon involved in transportation in the Kalos region, and it was first revealed before its earlier evolutionary form, Skiddo, was.
