Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are getting an update on December 1, 2022 that will fix a few issues, and the Ranked Battles Season 1 goes live starting December 1, 2022 at 8:00pm PST / 11:00pm EST (December 2 at 04:00 UTC) and lasting until January 4, 2023 at 3:59pm PST / 6:59pm EST (23:59 UTC).
Season 2 begins on January 4, 2023 at 8:00pm PST / 11:00pm EST (January 5, 2023 at 04:00 UTC), although its battle rules have not been confirmed at this time.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Update 1.1.0
According to the official Nintendo post outlining the update for Scarlet & Violet, the update will take place on December 1, 2022 and it will add or address the following:
- Season 1 of Ranked Battles will kick off, allowing you to enjoy Ranked Battles through the Battle Stadium.
- An issue has been fixed that caused the music to not play correctly during the battles with the Elite Four and the Top Champion in the Victory Road path.
- Other select bug fixes have been made.
They also have addressed some of the performance issues and have issued the following statement:
We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games’ performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games.

Ranked Battles Series 1 Rules
For Ranked Battles Season 1, the following Series 1 rules will be in place:
- Eligible Pokémon: All Pokémon in the Paldea Pokédex are eligible, except for the following:
- All “Paradox” Pokémon
- The four “Ruin” Pokémon
- Miraidon and Koraidon
- Roaming Form Gimmighoul
- Perrserker
- Quagsire
- Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard
- Any other Pokémon not #001–400 in the Paldea Pokédex not listed
- Timers:
- Total Time: 20 minutes
- Player Time: 7 minutes
- Preview Time: 90 seconds
- Turn Time: 45 seconds
